While Season 6 has come to a close, we are still hard at work in the background, getting ready for the launch of Season 7 on the 28th of September with a lovely teaser trailer to get you all excited. In the meantime, we thought we would bring back this episode we did with The Zulu Skywalker, aka, Muzi.
A lot has happened since we first released this episode and while at the time we caught at the start of the release buildup for his new album “Interblaktic”, this Zulu Jedi has gone on to drop singles featuring the likes of Sho Madjozi and Kaytranada, and has firmly entrenched this cultural polymath as one of South Africa’s freshest exports.
So sit back, get yourself a beverage and get deep inside the mind of Muzi to prepare yourself for the drop of his new album on the 1st of October.
With his heritage and family at the root of every creative move that he makes, he expertly blends together cutting edge urban and electronic music with local genres like Maskandi, Kwaito, and Bubblegum Pop of the 80s and 90s, to craft a sound that is entirely his own.
Through embracing his early “weirdness” and turning it into an asset, despite common perceptions in rural Empangeni, Muzi is a philosophical shaman that draws inspiration from the past to cultivate an African-charged, sonic future.
