Jacques Moolman is arguably South Africa’s best rock vocalist, high praise – maybe – but once you’ve heard this man’s unmistakable voice, it’s rather difficult to forget it.

Recently embarking on a solo career and releasing his debut album The Great Valley Redemption that’s a blend of old school blues rock and, we would be very surprised if he doesn’t walk away with a SAMA for Best Rock Album in 2022.

From his growing up between South Africa and The Ilse of Wight, to his formative musical years as the lead singer of Shadowclub, Jacques has always sought to find the extraordinary in the mundane, while, like any creative genius, ensures that he makes sure even the most beautiful output is fraught with self sabotage.

Muzi is one of the most talked about South African musicians on the scene currently, with co-signs from Chris Martin, Damon Albarn and Stormzy, he has worked tirelessly to become one of the first names that comes to mind when thinking about modern African music.

With his heritage and family at the root of every creative move that he makes, he expertly blends together cutting edge urban and electronic music with local genres like Maskandi, Kwaito, and Bumblegum Pop of the 80s and 90s, to craft a sound that is entirely his own.

Through embracing his early “weirdness” and turning it into an asset, despite common perceptions in rural Empangeni, Muzi is a philosophical shaman that draws inspiration from the past to cultivate an African-charged, sonic future.
